ABOUT FAVORITE SON

Favorite Son is a band from San Antonio, Texas, and their sound is a reflection of their landscape. Combining the melodic guitar leads and harmonization of bands like the Allman Brothers & Wilco with the jazz-based pocket of the rhythm section, Favorite Son naturally pays homage to its local predecessors while remaining experimental. Guitarists Cooper Greenberg & Ramon Botello have played together since high school, collaborating on many projects through the 2010’s, and drummer Andres Ovalle & bassist Joseph Cantu soon brought their jazz education to establish the backbone of the sound. After Greenberg’s string of solo releases between 2018-2021, the band took the songs they’ve honed in over years of playing throughout Texas and recorded “Favorite Son Live,” at one of their home venues— in late 2024, the band began recording their debut studio record, which will be released in late 2025.
